Mangrove Tour

This adventure starts at Drake town, along the Sierpe river. Down the river is the largest wetlands conservation area along the Pacific Ocean of Central America, one hundred thirty-three thousand hectares. Declared by RAMSAR convention, it is a Ramsar site (of great world importance) due to the large number of ecosystem services it provides. At the same moment we get on board, we start discovering the great diversity that this area is known for; seven species of mangroves trees, the Alcornoque tree (holds the Guinness record as the largest bean in the world) sangrillo trees, with its exposed root system get the admiration of the visitors. More than 40 species of fauna can be observed on the way, including three species of monkeys, howler, withe faced capuchin and central American squirrel titi­ monkeys (the last one endemic to Costa Rica and Panamá raccoons, bats, sloths, ant eaters, three boas, a great variety of marine/wetland and terrestrial birds, this is called by visitors as a live nature documentary TV show or the natgeo Tour.
