Gold Tour

The Artisanal gold mining tour is a highly cultural experience regarding golds traditional extraction from the streams and rivers at Peninsula de Osa. The tour is run by a local family and consists of an introductory speech in which the process and tools employed during the artisanal extraction of gold is briefly explained. Then a short hike is taken to the site where a demonstration of the extraction process takes place until small gold fragments are found during the before mentioned process. Visitors will have the opportunity to try their luck and do their own demonstrations. Finally, after the hype of finding fragments of the coveted and mysterious gold, visitors are taken back to the starting point where they will enjoy delicious and assorted snacks, including the exclusive arepa and a variety of homemade marmalades. The tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours and is easily accessible for everyone (no handicapped).
