While the beaches are beautiful, the major highlight of Puerto Viejo has nothing to do with the sand or sea, but instead a deeper look into the local culture. This region of Costa Rica is home to the Bri Bri indigenous group.
From there you will see organic chocolate being made from scratch by a member of the Bri Bri indigenous tribe ” from plant to plate. The Bri Bri have a long history of chocolate production in the Puerto Viejo area - you will have an opportunity to buy some organic chocolate bars to help support the Bri Bri community.
