Climb the main crater of Rincón de la Vieja Volcano on this challenging hike. You will visit a trail that leads you through different types of vegetation and trees to the summit at a height of about 5,925 feet (1,806 meters) with astounding views. On very clear days, you can see the Caribbean Sea, the great Nicaraguan Lake, and the Pacific Ocean! Located close to the top are the freshwater “Yiguerro” lagoon and the highest point, called the “Von Seebach”. This trail is very demanding, 5 miles long (8 km) one way. The hike can be done only if you start early in the morning and if the weather conditions are good. (Please note, this trail may be periodically closed by Park officials due to high volcanic activity and that the park is close on Mondays) • Departure: Morning • Experience Last: Full Day • Difficult Level: High • Includes: Lunch, bottle water, fruit juice, bilingual guide, transportation, and entrance fees • We recommend you bringing: Hiking shoes, rain poncho, binoculars, camera, sun block, mosquito repellent, sunglasses, and hat.
