Day 1: Arrival
After your arrival at Juan Santamaria International Airport, our staff members will be waiting for you to take you to the hotel in San Jose.

Day 2: San José – Nicoya
After breakfast depart for Palo Verde National Park area located near the Golf of Nicoya. An ideal place for naturalists, birdwatchers and all nature lovers in general. Upon arrival check in at your hotel.

Day 3: Nicoya
Today you will have your boat tour at Palo Verde National Park. Birds spotted regularly in the park include Great Curassows, Scarlet Macaws, White Ibis, roseate spoonbills, anhinga, jabirus, and wood storks among many others.

Day 4: Nicoya – Tenorio Volcano
Departure to Bijagua town, nearby the Tenorio Volcano National Park. Upon arrival check in at your hotel.

Day 5: Tenorio Volcano – Sarapiqui
After taking your breakfast, get ready for your Celeste River Hiking through the jungle to seek out the volcano’s vents, which expel gases of extreme high temperatures. After this, we will depart through the lowlands of San Carlos until arriving at Sarapiquí area located on the Caribbean lowlands. Upon arrival check in at your hotel.

Day 6: Sarapiqui
Get ready for your early morning La Selva Biological Station birdwatching tour. The excellent trail system and the knowledgeable naturalist guides would lead birdwatchers through a variety of habitats, from dense primary rain forest to open pasturelands.

Day 7: Sarapiqui – Turrialba
Check out of the hotel and journey to the town of Turrialba. Turrialba is a charming little town in the lush and beautiful Central Valley in Cartago province. Famous for being a white-water rafting hotspot.

Day 8: Turrialba
Take a hike at Rancho Naturalista. a premier bird watching lodge located in a private reserve thirty minutes from Turrialba in Costa Rica. The ranch contains many bird species and is popular with bird spotters and photographers. Accommodation is available in a large selection of guest rooms which are all uniquely designed with vibrant colors and modern decor.

Day 9: Turrialba – San Gerardo de Dota
Depart to San Gerardo de Dota area. Upon arrival check in at your hotel. Afternoon at your leisure to enjoy the hotel surroundings.

Day 10: San Gerardo de Dota
Wake up early in the morning and hop on in a quest in search of the elusive Quetzal.

Day 11: San Gerardo de Dota – Herradura
Early in the morning, departure to the Central Pacific Coast to Carara Transitional Forest National Park. In the way enjoy the birding hiking at Tárcoles to visit the 4700ha Carara National Park, you will probably see parrots, partridges, toucans, flycatchers, white-faced monkeys and coatis among others. Giant trees provide pleasant shadow.

Day 12: Herradura – San Jose
Visit Carara National Park. A park boasting a dense jungle and easy hiking trails, considered to be one of Costa Rica’s best birding destinations.

Day 13: Departure
