Day 1: Arrival
After your arrival at Juan Santamaria International Airport, our staff members will be waiting for you to take you to the hotel in San Jose.
For the driving on own option a car rental staff member will escort you to the office and you will receive your SUV to begin your adventure. Depart for your hotel in the city. Upon arrival check in at your hotel.
Day 2: San José – Sarapiqui
A journey by land through Braulio Carrillo National park will take you to the Sarapiqui Rainforest area. The drive will take around 2 ½ hours. Upon arrival get ready for the first adventure, River Rafting at Sarapiqui River, this river has sections for all ages from rapids class I to IV.
Day 3: Sarapiqui
Today you will have a guided hike at La Selva Biological Station. The station comprises 1,600 hectares (3,954 acres) of tropical wet forests, including some 1,850 species of plants, 448 species of birds, approximately 500 species of ants, about half of the mammal species found in Costa Rica and the majority of the butterfly varieties.
Day 4: Sarapiqui – Arenal
Depart for the 2 hours drive to the famous Arenal Volcano area with a stop at the Chocolate tour. This tour will show you the secrets and wonders of one of mankind’s favorite foods: chocolate. Originally from Central America. Upon arrival check in at your hotel.
Day 5: Arenal
Today during the morning, we will take you to The Sloth Park, you will get the opportunity to find from 4 to 5 sloths, different species of birds, snakes, beetles, spiders and frogs such as the famous Red Eyed Frog, the Blue Jeans Frog and a lot of tropical forest biodiversity. The sloth searching is the center of attraction at this park, the guide will explain the characteristics of the sloths their habitat and custom’s.
During the afternoon we will take you to the Arenal Volcano for a hike at trail 1968, stand at a viewpoint incredibly close to the volcano and step on ancient lava flows turned into rocks. At the end of the hike, you will visit the Tabacon Hot Springs Spa, so you can relax in the pools and enjoy a buffet dinner
Day 6: Arenal – Manuel Antonio
After breakfast depart with one of our drivers or on your own for the rental car option to the Central Pacific coast. The drive will take you through small villages and pictures landscapes from rainforest, Cloud Forest to warm weather of the coast. Upon arrival check in at your hotel. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 7: Manuel Antonio
After an early breakfast one of our guides and driver will pick you up at your hotel to take you to the famous Manuel Antonio National Park where you can easily see a least 3 of the 4 species of monkeys that we have in the country, sloths, iguanas and many other species. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the beach.
Day 8: Departure
Depending on your international flight departure time (recommended later than noon) one of our drivers will drive you back to Juan Santamaria International Airport, San José, on time for your flight back home. The drive takes 3 hours.
For the rental car option depart for the airport, return your car and check in for your flight back home.
