SOME EXTRA TIPS
Esquinas Rainforest Lodge is located in the pristine south Pacific of the country, close to the town of Golfito. It is part of a model project combining conservation, ecotourism, research, reforestation and community aid, sitting on a 35-acre private reserve, surrounded by untouched rainforest.
Originally, this place was a research station that later turned into a 100% carbon-neutral lodge. It contains 16 comfortable wooden bungalows with screened windows, surrounded by manicured gardens and dense jungle.
Hearty meals are prepared using organically grown vegetables and fruits from the garden, and natural produce like freshly caught fish are part of the appetizing local and Austrian specialties served in the indoor restaurant.
Activities include hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, boat and kayak tours in nearby Golfo Dulce. The hiking trails on the property and into adjoining Piedras Blancas National Park offer excellent wildlife viewing.
The main lodge houses the bar, and the library has comfortable lounge chairs to lazily absorb the beauty of the pond surrounded by fragrant gardens with white ginger and ylang-ylang blossoms.
