5 ideal places to discover Costa Rica… walking

Bryan Obregón is our youngest guide and a fervent environmentalist. Here he shares with us some of his favorite places to discover our country, through magical landscapes and natural waterways. This is how you stay in endless wonder.

1- Rincón de la Vieja National Park

Location: Guanacaste province Due to its type of ecosystem and ecological content, this is one of the most beautiful places for bird watching. Just being inside the forest under the shadow of the fig trees and going out to the open to see fumaroles is a unique feeling.

2- Corcovado National Park

Location: Osa Peninsula It does not matter what path you take within the national park, once you are inside the trails, you will understand why it is considered one of the most biodiverse areas in the world, this is one of the most pristine places of our country.

3- Tortuguero National Park

Location: Limón Province Although it is true that this is not the easiest place for hikes, the boat trip on its canals is impressive thanks to its mirror-like landscape. Watching wildlife in its forests on the canals in the morning time is the best way to start or end a trip to Costa Rica.

4- High lands

Location: Alajuela Province Whether it is the Poás Volcano National Park, the Barva Volcano, San Gerardo de Dota, or Monteverde, in any of these places we get delighted of our endemism. Of all the biodiversity of the country, the species that inhabit the highlands make us different from the rest of the planet.

5- Chirripó National Park

Location: San Gerardo de Rivas In the highest peak of the country, where the number of species observed falls to its scarcer points, the scenic beauty is incomparable. The air and the energies that are felt and breathe in the sky of Costa Rica from up there do not belong to this world.
