This perfect 11-day itinerary samples the best of the country, taking into account the weather experienced in green season. Travelers visit the cultural epicenter of San Jose, explore the natural wonders of Arenal, learn about the local ecosystem in Monteverde and bask in the sun on the Pacific Coast. We arrange for the best accommodations in each area!
Day 1:
Upon arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport, private transportation to the hotel for overnight will be provided. Overnight at Trapp Family Country Inn. Meals: not included.
Day 2:
Today a representative of the rental car company will deliver your 4x4 Daihatsu Bego to commence your driving experience through Costa Rica. Self-drive to the Arenal volcano area in the Northern plains. Overnight at Casa Luna hotel. Meals: Not included
Day 3:
This morning enjoy a natural history walk at the Arenal Hanging Bridges. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the area with your rental car. Overnight at Casa Luna hotel. Meals: Breakfast.
Day 4:
Depart today for Monteverde, a community renowned for its conservation efforts of the cloud forests. As you drive around the Arenal Lake, enjoy the views of the Arenal volcano and the rural communities you will encounter on the way. Overnight at El Sapo Dorado Hotel. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 5:
As part of your stay at Sapo Dorado you have included a tour per person. Options among which you can choose are: a guided hike at Sendero Tranquilo trail (at the lodge’s private reserve), Sky Trek canopy/ zip-line tour, a 2.5 hour horseback riding tour, Latin Dance Classes or a Full Body Massage. Overnight at El Sapo Dorado hotel. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 6:
After breakfast depart for the Pacific coast. Drive to Puntarenas port where you will board the ferry boat to Paquera, crossing the beautiful Gulf of Nicoya. Once at the other side, drive to your hotel on the beach. Overnight at Tango Mar hotel. Meals: breakfast.
Days 7-9:
Full days at your leisure to explore the area with your rental car. Overnight at Tango Mar hotel. Meals: breakfast.
Day 10:
Self-drive to the Central Valley. At the set time a representative of the rental car company will meet you at the hotel to pick up the vehicle. Overnight at Trapp Family Country Inn. Meals: breakfast.
Day 11:
At a convenient time, you will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the international airport to board your homebound flight. Meals: breakfast. End of our services.

- USD $750.00 deposit fee for the rental car.

The services quoted include all the taxes (in lodging the 13% and for meals the 10% for the service plus the 13% sales).
The Costa Rican international airport departure tax is $26.00 per person.
The check in time for local flights is one hour before the airplane departure.
The maximum weight permitted on boats and domestic flights is 25 pounds per person.
The local airline companies require that each passenger that weighs over 270 pounds (123 kgs) pays for two seats. This must apply due to the restricted seat size and because of the weight constraints of the aircraft.
The extra luggage can be stored at Horizontes office in San Jose, if the logistic of the program allows this option. Otherwise, additional charges per transportation may apply.
The check in time in most of the hotels is between 2:00/3:00 p.m.; the check out time is usually at 12:00 noon.
Please be aware that Horizontes do not recommend the clients to return to San Jose the same day of their international return flight. If for any reason (mechanical problems, weather conditions, others) clients are not able to make the connection with their international flight, Horizontes cannot be held responsible for the inconveniences and additional expenses this situation may cause.
It is important to take into consideration that due to the effect caused by the constant fluctuation in the fuel cost, suppliers may apply last minute adjustments in the rates of the different services, and that will force us to adjust the final price of the programs.
