Sport Adventure for Families

Day 1:

Arrival to San José, Costa Rica / Hotel Doubletree Cariari

Arrival at the Juan Santamaría Intl. Airport, where your transfer guide will greet you and take you to Doubletree Cariari Hotel, approximately 15 minutes distance. Overnight at Doubletree Cariari Hotel.  (No meals included)

Day 2:

San José / Sarapiquí – Sueño Azul

Welcome breakfast and orientation by your guide at Las Tejas hotel cafeteria.  Afterwards, you will head to Rainforest Aerial Tram, the treetop world of the rainforest canopy is virtually unexplored and until recently, inaccessible. Just about an hour from downtown San José, the Aerial Tram allows people of all ages to enter the canopy as easily as taking a ski lift. A guided forest walk with a naturalist introduces the rainforest and prepares you for the canopy experience. Dinner and overnight at Sueño Azul. (Meals: breakfast – lunch –dinner).

Day 3:

Sarapiquí – Sueño Azul

Breakfast at Sueño Azul. You will have the opportunity to choose between a rafting trip or a floating trip at the scenic Sarapiqui River. River lunch included.   Dinner and overnight at Sueño Azul (Meals: breakfast – lunch – dinner)

Day 4:

Sarapiquí / Tortuguero – Pachira or Aninga Lodge

After breakfast you will be driven to Caño Blanco, where you will board a boat to Tortuguero National Park area.  Located in the extreme northeast of Costa Rica, Tortuguero’s Tropical Wet Forest is accessible only by small plane or boat, along the famous Tortuguero Canals.  This is a rich zone of wildlife and flora. During your stay, you will have the opportunity to explore the system of rivers and manmade canals running through primary forest.

Overnight at Pachira Lodge (Meals: breakfast – lunch – dinner)

 

Please note: As there is a weight limitation of 30 lbs per person for luggage on local flights and boats, you will have to pack your luggage carefully. You can give your extra luggage to your driver and we will store it at our baggage storage facilities.

Day 5:

Tortuguero - Pachira or Aninga Lodge

Today you will discover Tortuguero on small boats that will ensure you to have a better and close encounter with the flora and fauna of this amazing site. Full day dedicated to explore Tortuguero.   Overnight at Pachira or Aninga Lodge (Meals: breakfast – lunch – dinner)

Day 6:

Tortuguero / Manuel Antonio – Parador

Breakfast at Lodge.  Boat transfer to Tortuguero’s local airstrip to catch your regular flight to Quepos. This morning you will experience a canopy adventure. This tour lets you roam around the treetops, giving you a bird’s eye view of the tropical forest.  Leap from platform to platform on the special system of steel cables with the use of professional climbing gear.  Dinner & overnight at Parador Hotel. (Meals: breakfast – lunch – dinner). 

Day 7:

Manuel Antonio – Parador

Have breakfast at Parador Hotel.  Today you will have the opportunity to visit one of the most famous National Parks in Costa Rica: Manuel Antonio National Park, which is a perfect combination of warm Pacific waters and rainforest that grows right down to the three white sand beaches.  Lunch and dinner at a local restaurant.  Overnight at Parador Hotel (Meals: breakfast – lunch – dinner). 

Day 8:

Manuel Antonio – Parador

Breakfast at Parador Hotel.   Today is free day to relax and enjoy the beach and the hotel’s amenities.

Lunch today is on your own.  Enjoy your last night with a delicious farewell dinner at Parador Hotel.

Overnight at Parador Hotel (Meals: breakfast – dinner)

Day 9: (Sunday, March 21st)

Breakfast at Parador Hotel. Today a representative from Iguana Tours will pick you up for your transfer lo the local airstrip. Check in with Nature Air for your flight #117 back to San José that leaves at 7:40 a.m.  Upon arrival, transfer to the Juan Santamaría International Airport to take your flight back home. (Meals: breakfast)
