Costa Rica will be in the international spotlight tomorrow as our National Soccer Team “La Sele” kicks off the World Cup in a match against Germany, just after the opening ceremonies. All Costa Ricans will be glued to their TV sets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (local time) cheering on our home team for this unique inaugural event, which expects to attract one billion viewers from all over the world. At Horizontes, many of us will be watching the match from a local indoor soccer field, just around the corner from our office. During this time, our offices will be officially closed in celebration of our country’s national pastime. We are thrilled that our country will be featured extensively in the pre-game and half-time programming, and hope this generates continued interest in discovering our country’s captivating tropical rainforests, warm people, and long history of peace and democracy. Costa Rica has invested approximately $3.5 million in advertising for the event to promote our destination among the international market. We expect this investment to enhance the positioning of Costa Rica among the world map of travel destinations. |
